Romanovsky Betting System – The Ins & The Outs (Analysis)

Last updated: 05.04.2024 by Andrew Shepard

The Romanowsky betting system is what you may describe as a “standalone” betting system. This simply means that each round is independent from each other, which makes it very easy to break off at almost any time and feel a little less obligated to play through a seemingly interminable sequence (Fibonacci, we are looking at you). Invented by Igor Romanowsky, the system plays very easily and can be specifically applied on roulette. The idea is to cover multiple numbers of the wheel, using both the Inside and Outside Bets. Let’s see how this works, and if it’s worth it.

How Does the Romanovsky Strategy Work?

Romanowsky roulette is super easy to get into. The main idea here is that you want to cover 32 out of the 37 numbers on the roulette wheel. This gives you a good chance of winning, or about 86.48% of scoring a win. Granted, not all outcomes will be optimal, but this doesn’t matter as the strategy accounts for this. You won’t be betting on 32 numbers randomly, however. Not at all, as this would be unsustainable. Rather, you will place bets on two of the Dozens and then place corner bets for eight of the remaining 12 numbers. It’s really that simple. Check out the examples below.

Romanovsky Strategy

In this case, we have placed R3 bets on two of the Dozens columns and also placed R1 on two corner bets, covering additional 8 numbers. This way, only 5 numbers will not be covered when you spin the wheel, giving you that 86.48% chance of winning. Here is what the outcome will be if you win any specific wager.

Corners: Here, the probability is 21.62%. If you do win this selection, you will win a total of R1. This accounts for the losses as well. The corner bet payout is 8:1.

Dozens: If you win any of the Dozens, you will still be R1. So, you may think of the dozens as a hedge bet, which pays in 64.86% of the time.

Flop: If no bet wins, you will lose R8. The chance of this happening is high at 13.52%.

Now, this all sounds great in theory, but let’s really see how this strategy would work over a few rounds at first, and then in a dedicated testing environment.

  • Spins 1

We bet across the wheel and hit a loss. We are R8 in the red.

  • Spins 2

Right, we have just won a round and are looking at R1 profit, and decrease our outstanding loss to R7.

  • Spins 3

Once again we have won, leaving us just R6 in the red.

  • Spins 4

Once again, we win, leaving us with a R5 loss.

  • Spins 5

Lastly, we win our fifth spin, and are down to R4 loss.

What Did Our Test of Romanovsky Roulette System Show?

Right, to help you get a better grasp of the strategy, and actually see how it works in practice, we have created a simulation that runs several players through the entire sequence over 1,000 rounds. We have awarded each of the players a R1,000 bankroll. This is all a machine algorithm that we wrote specifically for the purposes of testing the strategy. The base bet here is R1. Right, here are the results for all four players.

Romanovsky Roulette System

The first thing that you will immediately notice in the strategy is that the only player to actually go above the initial bankroll is Player 3. Player 4 did manage to pull ahead at the very beginning, but he quickly dove below the R1,000 bankroll again.

As to the yellow player, he actually reached more than R1,030 at one point and was the most successful of all four simulations. The rest of the players continued on a steady decline. As the game progressed, the bankroll continued to decline with the final bankroll for players standing at R666 for Player 1 and Player 2 both, and R675 and R756 for Player 3 and Player 4 respectively.

As you can see, all four tests showed that the strategy was not actually that effective even when tested from the point of view of four different players.

What to Lookout for in Romanovsky Roulette Strategy?

Right, so the strategy is actually not one that has that many drawbacks. The theory crafting in it is sound – cover as many numbers as you can and enjoy the spoils. Unfortunately, the 13.52% loss chance is really not that great, and it will trigger a loss often enough for you to lose momentum and see your bankroll decline further.

The system definitely does not guarantee profit either. We have seen other strategies end on a similarly low bankroll after 1,000 rounds, but what was different there was the fact that many of the players actually pulled ahead for a while before dipping below their original bankroll.

The other issue is that if you enter with a small bankroll, there is no way you can use this strategy to your advantage at all. With this in mind, feel free to look into it yourself.

Final Word

As you can see, Romanowsky is a strategy that definitely appeals to players. It offer plenty of variety and leave you the choice of picking which numbers you would like to cover. Regardless, the strategy boils down to pure math, and the math suggests that you would not be able to make any particular use of this strategy in the long run.

If we took the 13.6% loss, this would roughly mean that we expect to win 864 of the rounds and lose 136 of the rounds over the course of 1,000 rounds. One loss would take about eight rounds after that to recover from, which makes losses particularly unpleasant indeed. Some players still enjoy the strategy and use it quite often aware of these drawbacks. However, it’s important that you come forearmed and prepared. If you do, then having fun using Romanowsky is a perfectly good thing to do!
