Probably one of the most popular strategies out there, the 24+8 roulette system has been gathering significant interest from players all over the world. The system has been known to both work and fall flat, so figuring out whether it is a good choice for you will take firsthand experience. We have a better idea, however, as we have tested the system and analysed it in detail to help point out some of its weaknesses and strengths to you. At the end of the day, it’s down to you to decide if you want to try this system for what it has to offer and how 24 plus 8 roulette system works for you personally. Let’s check it out.
How the 24+8 System Works
Right, so the system is built on a very simple premise – as are most roulette strategies. Although the system says 24+8 and may originally have been designed to cover fewer numbers, 24+8 roulette system expects you to place bets on two of the three Dozens, and on 10 individual numbers that are not covered under the Dozens.
This means that you will cover 34 out of 37 numbers available on the wheel, giving you a 91.89% chance to win. Alright, but what about the actual progression? Well, this is very easy and if you are familiar with Martingale, you will know how 24+8 work already. Essentially, you double down after every loss to try and recoup it, and then go back to the base unit. Alright, but what of the actual betting? Let’s check it out.
In the illustration, we have placed R10 bet on the first and third dozen, covering the numbers from 1-12 and 25-36 respectively. Now, to keep things simple, we have then placed 10 R1 wagers on 13,14,15,16,17,18, 19, 20, 21 and 24. This leaves the zero, 22 and 23 open. From thereon in, there are several scenarios that can play out. You have just placed a total worth of R30 in wagers, so let’s see what happens.
- You win the Dozen bets: This outcome has a chance of 64.86% and if it does happen, you get R30 win. However, you also lose R30 on the other bets, so you make no actual win here.
- Straight-up: If you win a straight-up wager, you will end up, after accounting for losses, with a $6 gain.
- No number wins: If this happens – probability of 8.11% - you will actually be R30 in the hole, which is admittedly not a great feeling.
Regardless, the 24+8 roulette system is sound. It gives you a decent chance of winning in the short term, but it inevitably comes down to luck. Let me show you five rounds of the system and what happens.
- Spins 1
You win a Dozen bet. You push. No win or loss.
- Spins 2
You win a straight-up bet. You win R6.
- Spins 3
It’s a push again because you won a Dozen bet.
- Spins 4
We win another straight-up bet, and we are now up to R12.
- Spins 5
No bet wins, we are now R18 in the hole because of our current loss of R30 and the previous win of R18.
Testing 24+8 and Analyzing the Results
You have probably wondered. Is 24 8 roulette system legal? It is, but whether it’s actually impactful enough to move the needle in your favor is another matter. The graph below factors in five players. We wrote simulations of the system, hoping to see what the actual likelihood of winning is. All of the five players played with a bankroll of R1,000 and over 500 rounds. They all used the 24+8 system. We also introduced a modified 24 8 roulette system, but we will touch on it after we analyse the core findings.
As you can plainly see, none of the five players actually made it to the end with more than the initial bankroll. Player 3 did have a small breakout there with just a few ZAR more than they started with. Player 4 started rather badly, and they recovered after around 150 rounds of play, but then quickly started losing again. After 300 rounds of play, there were fewer fluctuations and most players started to lose rather sharply from that point on.
Players 1, 2, and 5 suffered the sharpest declines, hitting a really small bankroll by the time the sequence finished. Player 5 was down to around R50 bankroll, whereas both Player 1 and 2 were below R500 when the sequence finished. The graph suggests that this system can be particularly risky. Alright, but we spoke about modifying 24+8 system, right? So, what if we really did. The modification has to do with avoiding doubling down after a loss and sticking to a flat base unit instead.
We took three players, gave them a budget of R1,000 and 500 rounds to test out the strategy instead. Now, the results are in and as you can see there are no steep declines, or at least not as steep as the ones experienced with the progressive version. So, what we can determine based on these tests is that adding Martingale to double down after a loss is not really a good idea.
Pitfalls of 24+8 System
As you can see, when not modifying the strategy, it can often be difficult to stay competitive and could perhaps wonder what is coming next – is it a steep decline, or perhaps a small uptick in the bankroll? The best way to go about this one is to stop doubling down after a loss, but still, you have a fairly good chance of depleting your bankroll after a while. If you modify the strategy you probably don’t need as big of a budget as you will if you double down after your losses, so this is a silver lining.
Conclusion
As you can see, you can try your hand at a 24+8 System in at least two different ways. The first one is to take a good look at whether you want to double down after a loss. Essentially, the 24+8 System can work if you perhaps eliminate the doubling-down-after-a-loss factor.
Our long-term testing, however, reaches the same conclusion no matter which version of the stratagem you choose. On the one hand, you are bound to run into a steady loss, which will build up incrementally. By removing the Martingale factor, you will at least slow down the progression of this loss.
Is this to say that 24+8 roulette system cannot work? It absolutely can, but you should remember not to stick with it for too long. Try and make sure to remind yourself that sooner or later, your losses will start stacking high.
